I suppose a part of me is relieved, while a larger part is missing the excitement of rushing for the deadlines and being challenged in all aspects to collaborate with each other on different levels in the attempt to create as flawless of a K-Con as possible.
But all over. HKSA Spring 2010, 26th Semi-Annual Karaoke Contest…gone and over.
Perhaps I should start by extending my appreciation to our numerous sponsors, our many service providers, our audiences, our contestants, our judges, and most of all…our officers. (Definitely not intending to sound like a President’s Acknowledgement ><)
Without our sponsors, we would not have been able to provide for the facilities and equipments that enhanced our show each in their own ways. Without the providers of those facilities and equipments, the show couldn’t have been nor would we have had the beautiful supplements of flowers, trophies, booklets, buttons, etc. Without our audiences, the show wouldn’t have been as exciting or our contestants as wholehearted. Without our prized contestants, this show wouldn’t even be at all. Without our judges, there would’ve been no standard, no contest, and no enthusiasm. Thank you for all your support.
And for my fellow HKSA officers…
Throughout the entire journey, from choosing positions, to writing the skits, to carrying out each of our roles, to designing the buttons, to creating each page of our beautiful booklet, to actually putting on the show…I’m sorry if I’ve been negative in any way. I’m sorry if I’ve been unsupportive in any way. I’m sorry if I’ve failed to handle my responsibilities in any way. I’m sorry for deficiency in any aspects.
But also, thank you. Thank you, each and every single one of you, for having been there for each other. Thank you for being there to hold each other up when we were all too exhausted and worn out to stand by ourselves. Thank you for all the physical and emotional support that each one of us needed to make it through the hectic week. Thank you, all of you, for being you. Thank you.
And onto the day of the show.
Semester after semester, we’ve strived to strip our club of the reputation of tardiness, and so preparations started early, each position on time. Flawless. Three hours later, we were ready to begin. First time in the 5 semesters I’ve been in HKSA, we were ready to begin on time. But of course, due to professionalism, we decided to hold back the show time due to some unexpected issues. But I’m proud of us. I’m proud that we have finally succeeded in our goal to begin K-Con on time.
P and VP Welcome. I hope every single one of you sitting or standing in 10 Evans could feel the sincerity of our appreciation and the pride of our club through the speech of our administrative personnel.
Skits. Perhaps our theme for this semester was an ounce more complicated than any we’ve done so far, but we hope that you still walked away from our show with a lesson learned. Misunderstanding. Things in life aren’t always merely as they seem, and each one of us has personal reasons for each action we carry out. We may not always agree, we may not always approve, and we definitely may not always know of each other’s reasons, but we must learn to accept each other’s choices in life. We must learn to understand that we may not always understand, and that somewhere deep inside, we are all simply trying to make it through life happily, selfish or selfless. Understanding.
Contestants. I’m more than positive each one of us walked into the room with someone’s name in our hearts, be it an acquaintance, a friend, or a loved one, each person that sang on the stage were received by the mental and emotional support of someone else in the crowd. They each had their flaws, yet each had their strengths. They entertained us in their unique ways, and they undoubtedly gave a performance that left marks in our hearts. Whether they received your approval or not, whether you understood their reasons for standing on that stage or not, I’m sure they all put forth their best foot to give to us the best of their ability.Thank you, Isaac. Thank you, Sun. Thank you, Viola and Helen. Thank you, William. Thank you, Horace. Thank you, Steven. Thank you, Romi. Thank you, Susan and April. Thank you, Terry. Thank you, Charlie and Mona. Thank you, Man Hei. Thank you, Venus. Thank you, Andrew. Thank you, Jayson and OSY. Thank you, Yafine. And thank you, David and Steven. And congratulations, Yafine, Terry, and Venus.
Judges. Thank you for your time, thank you for your input, then you for your performances, thank you for being our judges. Whether they, in your hearts, were worthy of being judges or not, they all have their experiences, their accomplishments, their valuable opinions, to be considered a worthy contribution and part of our show. Indubitably, we were all blown away by Ashley and Robert’s performances. Their power and their feelings, so wholly conveyed by their song that they must’ve captivated each of our hearts. Here, I will, void of shame, say that each time I hear Robert sing, he can put me on the edge of tears, if not already crying. Then there was Edward’s critique of our finalists, which undeniably opened our eyes as to what aspects of a performer must be paid attention to. Thank you, Ashley. Thank you, Edward. And thank you, Robert.
And so another wonderful experience has come to an end. The 8th and last K-Con of our beloved senior advisor, Joyce Lam, has come to an end. And if you’ve looked over our booklet, you might’ve seen the half page we dedicated to Joyce and Simon. So here in this blog, I want to send with them my love and support for all things to come, for all obstacles they’ll meet, and for every part of themselves they may lose down their paths. Thank you both for the wondrous memories and marks you’ve made in our lives and in HKSA. Thank you for all the times you’ve given us on personal and business (club) levels. Thank you for having been in our lives. Thank you.
And thank you, my fellow officers. We’ve made it through. :] Thank you, my dears. Thank you.
And here’s to everyone, may happiness and understanding be with you, always.
