Jan. 26, 09 Orientation Blog
{ January 27th, 2009 }
Dearest beloved HKSA members, supporters, and officers,
With the passing of our first event, HKSA Spring ’09 Orientation (春節春SEM搞新春!), I feel it a necessity to deeply and sincerely thank each and every one of you for creating and sustaining so buoyant an atmosphere at tonight’s event. I can’t seem to recall any other event, apart from K-Con, in which I’ve enjoyed so much. Not because this officer team has grown so fond of each other’s company; not because I finally realise that I actually do know quite a number of people that attend our events; but because I never imagined there’d be such an immense number of attendees at an event other than K-Con and that almost all of them were truly immersed and interested in the games we planned. And as I’ve said, the atmosphere was astoundingly snug and inviting, so much so that with the number of people I’ve met and the new friends I’ve made, I feel it a necessity to apologise precedently in the case that I do forget any of your names. (Sorry!)
But the event. Although I missed the half hour to social and eat, I hope the rest of this reconciles. Tonight, we endeavoured a new way to introduce our officers – Identity. Despite choosing what we as officers thought would be unknown facts but simple enough to guess, it seems as though one still can’t “judge a book by its cover.” But it was still a nice way to break the ice. After separating into four teams, it was time for the first game of the night, Angus and my 揮春HUNT! Disregarding the efficiency of the Wheeler custodians and the surprising difficulty of some of the apparent questions, this working together, talking things out as we all tried to reach an agreeable conclusion facilitated more than usual the process of making new friends. I will admit, the greetings were rather senseless, but would logical greetings have given the skits such space for creativity and amusing absurdity? And the Big TV portion! The challenges undoubtedly added entertainment to a game we’ve all become so used to. Game after game, Nelson’s team defeated all other opponents and managed to get his teammates all a discount to Friday’s K-Night event (congratulations!).
Alright, I know it’s an abrupt end to the first blog but it’s terribly late and I’m exhausted. Sorry, but goodnight!
Happy New Year!
Regards,
Historian Spring ‘09
